The first season consisting of 10 episodes premiered officially on January 22, 2018, on TNT. The last episode aired on March 26, 2018.
Later, on the 16th of August, 2018, the series was renewed for a second season by TNT. The second season is set to release on July 26, 2024. The plot of Season 2
The Alienist Season 2 is going to be based on the novel The Angel of Darkness. It is a follow-up novel of the first novel, The Alienist. So, looking at the setting of the novel, the story is expected to be set in the late 1890s.
