The 2024 National Football League season is due to begin on September 8 with the NFL Kick-off Game between the defending Super Bowl LVI champion Los Angeles Rams and Buffalo Bills. This will be the 103rd NFL season and the regular season will be completed on January 8, 2024. The playoffs will begin on January 14 and the Super Bowl will be played at State Farm Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, on February 12. Los Angeles Rams
We begin with the defending champions, and they are set to dominate the NFC West but not without a few challenges along the way. The loss of Andrew Whitworth and Von Miller is clearly a blow and Odell Beckham Jr. remains on the open market following his knee injury in the Super Bowl. The Rams have made additions in free agency, including Allen Robinson and Bobby Wagner plus they have young players ready to step up and fill the void. One concern for the Rams going into the regular season is the elbow injury to Matthew Stafford and if he misses games, that will be an early season blow. The Los Angeles Rams certainly took some hits during the preseason. Their wide receiver, Odell Beckham Jr. tore an ACL in the Super Bowl LVI. They lost a few key players and traded out Robert Woods. Their tackle, Andrew Whitworth retired recently as well, leaving many to question whether the Rams can bring it during the 2024 / 2024 season.
Lucky for Los Angeles fans, the Rams are still in the game. Joe Noteboom has already been chosen as a replacement for Whitworth. Troy Hill left Cleveland in favour of the Rams, opening up the team for quite a few more options. And most importantly, Allen Robinson II joined the team recently, which many agree is an upgrade over Woods. With all of this in mind, the Rams are still in the running. It seems the reigning champions will continue to rule.
Buffalo Bills
For many, Buffalo Bills have been the favourites to win the Super Bowl for much of the offseason and that is not going to change heading into the regular season. In the last two years they have gone to the AFC Championship and have all the components required to reach the Super Bowl. With MVP candidate Josh Allen supported by an elite defence, predictions for the AFC East are straightforward and Buffalo should land the AFC East crown. With the depth added during the offseason, the defence looks strong but there are some doubts over the interior offensive line, with three new starters. Some onlookers feel the Los Angeles Chargers have the best roster in the AFC West but there is no doubt Kansas City Chiefs are a playoff team. The loss of Tyreek Hill is one of the biggest blows of the offseason for any NFL team, but Patrick Mahomes will be as hungry as ever this season. The Chiefs have added a group of young players to their roster and combined with the experience of veteran Carlos Dunlap, Kansas City are going to be a major threat in 2024.
