When HBO had announced their plan for the inevitable spin-off and enormously popular that is Game of Thrones.
The Game of Thrones creator George RR Martin stated in a blog post, “We had four scripts in development. when I arrived in LA last week, but by the time I left we had five”
There was a lot of confusion with these hitting the roads the HBO’s President of Programming, Casey Bloys took on him or took a step to clarify what was the actual situation. As many shows are in process of development but HBO expects only one in the end, “The bar set by [showrunners David Benioff and DB Weiss] is so high that my hope is to get one show that lives up to it.”
They had five scriptwriters who were requested for the pilot scripts were the aforementioned Goldman, LA Confidential’s Academy Award- winner Brian Helgeland, Kong: Skull Island’s Max Borenstein, Westworld’s Carly Wray, and Bryan Cogman, one of Game of Thrones’ chief writers.
In April 2019, Bryan Cogman came out and said that his project is not going ahead. whereas, Goldman’s has already been canceled. Helgeland, Borenstein, and Wray’s have vanished without leaving anything and presumably rejected at the script stage.
