Fresh Prince: Who’s Coming Back For The Reunion?

Fresh Prince Feature
The cast of "Fresh Prince of Bel-Air" to be back together for HBO Max Reunion Special.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air aired on our televisions for an entertaining six seasons. The show debuted in the year of 1990 and ended on May the 20th, 1996. Along the way, the sitcom created countless people smile with almost One-Hundred and Fifty episodes.

However, if you’re a fan of the show, there’s buzz in the air once again. All this nostalgia isn’t for nothing. There is exciting news coming out from the production team.

Andy Borowitz and Susan Borowitz created the show with the sole motive of putting forward something fresh (sorry for the pun) in the sitcom universe. Although the genre was so full of Majority White casts, the creators went ahead with the change, and it worked. That too is a bit of an understatement as the show received massive cult-following.

What’s the Fresh Prince Special going to be like?

HBO have decided to organize this special program in honour of the show. It marks Thirty years since the first-ever episode aired. That date was September the 10th, 1990. In an ode to that particular date, this special will also broadcast on September the 10th, 2024.

Will Smith who lead the show and is the torch-bearer of the series will be the most notable guest. Just imagine how it would feel like for him to discuss something he did at 20 years of age, now at Fifty-One.

He’ll also be joined by : Tatyana Ali, Karyn Parsons, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Joseph Marcell, Daphne Maxwell Reid and Alfonso Ribeiro.

The reported hour-long show will be a sit down gathering of the leading cast members. The whole event is going to be unscripted and the special will air exclusively on TV. This extremely memorable re-union episode will be directed by Marcus Raboy.

Although, there was a bit of a confusion on the internet over the fact that this show is a TV exclusive by HBO. The subscribers of HBO’s streaming service, HBO Max, are a bit disappointed by that decision. Although, there’s nothing as iconic as the Fresh Prince assembly on the TV screen.

Even after all that the show will also be on the streaming platform. Just a bit later that the September 10th anniversary. The exact date hasn’t been made official yet but a slot around Thanksgiving Day is most likely.
