What is Trial By Media?
Trial By Media is a phrase famous in the late 20th century and early 21st century which describes the effect of television and newspaper coverage on the reputation of an individual by creating a widespread consciousness of guilt or innocence before, or after, a verdict in a court of law.
Trail By Media: When is it releasing on Netflix?
Well, Netflix takes this phrase to the next level by its Netflix Original show “Trial by Media” coming to digital screens on May 11 this year. Netflix dropped the trailer of it on May 1, 2024, and that go people all thrilled up by its premise.
The show produces under the joint production of lawyer and author Jeffrey Toobin and Hollywood’s George Clooney. Different directors direct each episode to give us different angles of a case.
Trial By Media: What will the show focus on?
Trial by Media will be focusing on 6 of the most significant tests ever to happen in the United States, which were heavily influenced by media all over the world. Each episode tells one of the six cases. The show will dive deep into these cases and will show users how much the outside Media impacts the decision which are made under the walls of a courtroom.
By the trailer, we can see that the show also shows real recordings as well as footage of the cases. But the main thing that attracted the mass was the involvement of lawyers who were the part of those cases. They give us the commentary of the issues while they progress.

One of the cases to feature in the documentary is the case of Governor Rod Blagojevich. He was impeached and removed from office for corruption in 2009.
Another case of Trial By Media includes the infamous ‘subway vigilante’ Bernhard Goetz, who was charged with attempted murder, assault, reckless endangerment, and several firearms offenses after he shot and wounded four African-American on the New York City Subway in 1984.
