Brian Dennehy – An American actor of film, stage, and television, won two Tony awards, an Oliver Award, and a Golden Globe for his outstanding contribution in his field.

Daughter Elizabeth tweeted, “It is with heavy hearts we announce that our father, Brian, passed away last night from natural causes, not COVID related. Larger than life, generous to a fault, a proud and devoted father and grandfather, he will be missed by his wife Jennifer, family and many friends.”

Dennehy was also selected six times for Emmy nominations. He was also recognized for his roles in The West Wing, The Good Wife, 30 Rock, and Miami Vice.

After being seen recently in NBC crime series, The Blacklist, he will be witnessed posthumously on the screen in Son of the South.

The versatile actor known for his action movies, classics, and comedies and especially his performance in “Death of a Salesman”, died on Wednesday in New Haven, Conn. at the age of 81. His last appearance on stage was in 2016 in White Rabbit Red Rabbit.  

ICM Partners, his agency, announced the news of his death. Also, his agent, Brian Mann, told The Chicago Tribune that the cause was cardiac arrest resulting from sepsis.

What did Dennehy believe?

“Theatre is something that I’ve always enjoyed and that I care about,” Dennehy said in 2016. “But as you get older, it is harder and harder to do, but it’s always worthwhile.”

“I don’t look like an actor, I don’t sound like an actor, I’m just another person,” Dennehy said in 2018. “Which really is the whole point of acting, is trying to be just another person.”

What was the reaction of the stars?

Tributes have arrived on Twitter from celebrities which include William Shatner, John Cusack, Michael Mckean and Mia Farrow.

Dennehy survives in the hearts of his wife Jennifer Arnott, and his five children, Elizabeth, Kathleen, Deirdre, Cormac and Sarah.
